A Tour

Wrapped around by an expansive verandah (tongue and groove ceiling and floor), the entrance is protected by a double oak door with bevelled glass, a spacious foyer greets the visitor with the formal living room to the left and a grand oak staircase to the right, at the back. The base of the staircase forms an L shape bench that extends upward to become the wall of a sizeable closet - a simple design of grace and function.  A little bit further is the formal dining room, which, like the entire house, is flushed with natural light.  The source for this room is from one of the two bay windows - a symmetrical expansion outward on both sides of the house.  The walls, panelled in oak three quarter upward, extend the philosophy of warmth afforded by natural wood, further enhanced by bronze mirrors – sectioned and hand cut individually.  Opening the solid oak door, with the gleaming solid brass handle, in the middle of the north wall the visitor is surprised with the liquor cabinet - glass shelved and mirror lined.  The kitchen, on the other side of the dining room, continues with wrap around oak panelling transported from the historical Blue Stone Coach House in Port Hope - bringing this philosophy to a climatic finale.  The “dog room”, a vestibule from the kitchen, leads to the brick patio and the pool (20’ x 40’), surrounded by bushels of flowering plants of all descriptions.   The backyard, circled by a towering stand of mature trees and running some 300 feet deep, offers complete privacy for those meditative moments or large engagements.
