Bare Stats. World renowned, enthusiastically and lovingly reviewed by the Press, Manitowaning Lodge and Tennis Resort is a 13 cottage, nine-room "lux" resort, and part-time family compound, located on Manitowaning Bay in Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island in the world, on the Canadian side of Lake Huron. It can be accessed by Road, Water or Air (two airports on the island). It's well placed on approximately 11 acres with 1,100 feet water frontage. As may be evident from the pictures, the site gently slopes down to a protected cove.

Of all the accolades heaped on the finished product, I think this article summed it up the best.

The exacting standards. Think Toronto - 2003, one of North America's premiere entertainment capital, Hollywood North if you will, transported 6 hours north. David Kosoy, North America's trans-border Real Estate titan with Offices in Yorkville and West Palm Beach, always ahead of his time, fell in love with the spectacular site on a fishing trip, convinced the owners to sell in 1989 (it took a year), set in motion "The Project" that transformed the sagging, at the time, 53 year old fishing lodge into a magnificent world class resort that may be just a few notches above what Martha Stewart may reach. No small feat for Colleen (Mrs. Kosoy) and Leo Laferme of Toronto with an army of some 60 people, including flying in the wallpaper hanger for the King of Saudi Arabia, retaining former Davis Cup champion Harry Fauquier to ensure the tennis courts are state-of-the-art, and Fitnessland to assemble the gym. David, a devoted athlete - played in exhibition games with the Toronto Argonauts, and was a Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union hockey all-star defensemen, ensured the timeless comfortable mix of classic lodge and English country charm that Colleen and Leo have created is balanced with top notch environment for the active set. Over $2 million have been spent for the Kosoy's private paradise and family compound - and part-time lodge.
