Richard's Notes
It's hard to suppress my natural tendencies for exuberance when I visit this exquisite compound. Sincerely, it is indeed one-of-a-lifetime, turn-key opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors in grand style. I must, in deference to the vendor's approach to life, and work, in subtle, established European tradition - sparing no expenses for top quality materials and workmanship. The lineage is Swiss, in this case.
The Vendor did not want to repeat the craziness of the city and travel a couple of hours to "cottage" in the well established Muskokas. When the opportunity availed itself for waterfront acreage in McKellar in 1990, he jumped on it. It's a good thing he did, as back then, he could build structures 30' away from the water. So he raised this magnificent home (approximately 6,300 sq.ft.) with soaring ceilings and three levels of terraces, a bar built right into the Canadian Shield and a Master Sanctum Santorum that has a corner window whirlpool bath for two overlooking Lake Manitouwabing.
In 2001, he added an award winning pool built directly into the Canadian Shield (approximately 87' x 52' x 10') with surround wood deck, outdoor whirlpool and a beach together with a 3,300 sq.ft. Pool House - accessed from the Main House with a bridge. For added fun and pleasure, he had commissioned a fiber optic computerized colour lighting system with "thousands points of lights" featured in the Granite Shower Room on the Main Level and the Versace Room in the Lower Level. Multi-layer of Versace Drapes bedecked a 13' 5" x 12' 0" Custom Bed, 100% Pure New Zealand Lambs Wool wall-to-wall carpet, wall-to-wall stone fireplace with benches and firewood alcove. I think Juerg had used some 120 tons of rock for this pleasure palace.
The Funky House a few steps from the Pool House was a complete surprise. It is bungalow totally al fresco in a maze of rooms which includes a Dining Room complete with a Wrought Iron Chandelier. I shouldn't reveal too too much here for the element of surprise. Trust me, this is an exceptional construct.
Below the bridge is a running stream with grassy areas for a more elemental feel - with circled tree stumps for a picnic!
With a stone's throw away to the Inn at Manitou for pampering spa treatment and fine dining, together with one of Canada's top ten Golf Courses - Ridge at Manitou, no wonder this little enclave is populated by Toronto's notables.

Postscript. For those of you who don't want to handle the drive, there is a heliport on the premise and waterplane is also an option. You can also ask me about chauffeur/concierge services select Toronto "cottagers".
